Hoyt Montrose

Montrose, Colorado is the locus of a seedling strain of apricots well designed to withstand growing conditions of the intermountain West: late blooming, fruits holding fairly well through freezing temperatures, self-fertile, well colored and juicy, melting flesh. Like the apricots of Door County, Wisconsin, the 'Montrose' apricots have traditionally been grown from seed and they are well known and well grown further abroad in Idaho, Utah and Arizona. This is a particularly fine selection, worthy of clonal propagation. Mid July here. 1000 hours. On Citation. Hoyt selection.
