John Rivers

John Rivers

One of the great glasshouse fruits of Victorian England, produced by the oldest nursery in the English-speaking world, Thomas Rivers & Son of Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire. The earliest white nectarine left to us, regrettably produced by a tree with outstandingly high chill requirement. Fruits white, half covered with purple; flesh somewhat coarse, extraordinarily juicy, white, red around pit, freestone, rich. Still valuable because of its early season and high quality. Early – mid-July. 1000 hours. On Lovell.
