Sometimes known as 'Amber Heart'. An immense, juicy, soft-centered cherry, resembling the 'Early Burlat' in texture: crisp while young, maturing to a nearly-melting flesh, for which the confusing designation either as bigarreau or heart. grown for over a century in the cherry districts of the County of Kent, long believed to actually originate in north Italy. Too soft to have been successful there as a commercial fruit, but still grown privately as the favorite pale cherry of England. Fruits large, amazingly juicy and sweet. Flesh yellow, skin dappled with pink, orange, buff. Mid to late June. On Mazzard.
