Lola

Lola

The famous nectarine of Central Asia, grown for centuries; probably the proverbial golden "peaches" of Samarkand. Like all ancient fruits, only medium sized, the fruits are immediately noticeable for their clear deep yellow skin; in hottest climates, like their native Uzbekistan, covered with washings of scarlet. Flesh is clear yellow, semifree, dense, meaty, juicy, with aroma of citrus blossom. Surprisingly easy culture, though native to extreme hot climate. An extraordinarily durable skin and dense texture allowed Lola to be distributed to public markets throughout the old Soviet Union, and a fond memory of the Russian summer. 800 hours. Late August. On Lovell.
