Reine Claude d'Oullins

Reine Claude d'Oullins

In Oullins we have the most productive, and nearly the earliest, of gages. The tree is healthy, vigorous and rarely misses a full crop. A chance seedling of the Old Greengage found on the property of a certain Filliaud at Coligny, then commended to the gardener to Baron de Toisy, where it was discovered by Massot, nurseryman of Oullins, the Lyon suburb, in the 1880s. Fruits deep green, betraying ripeness by change to yellow-green, large to very large, flesh amber, dense, jelly-like, with some of the greengage flavor. Remains on the tree in good condition without dropping. Season late July. On 29c
