Our latest peach of fine dessert quality. 'Last Chance' is inaptly named, as no luck is necessary hereabouts to get a lovely crop of fully ripe fruits from this variety. Fruits are of Gem type, highly red skin, flesh deep yellow with much red around the pit. Juicy, fully flavored, not dependent upon the weather. This was a seedling raised in the Antelope Valley of California where it was grown during the 1980s, a location that exaggerated the ripening season to even later than elsewhere in the state, and assured that no rains would interfere. Performs well even in the Bay Area, but is not a low-chill variety. Late September. 700 hours. On Lovell.
