Aghda

One of the great pomegranates of Iran, originally of Yazd in the center of the country. Fruits among the largest of any variety, to 8 inches, uniformly red outside, regular smooth round shape, calyx closed. Arils dark red, darker than the skin, seeds rather small. Both sweet and sour in taste, high juice yield. One fruit is more than enough for the family dessert. Season late October.
