John Chater, Lebanese-born horticulturist of Ventura County, grew several generations of pomegrantes from seed brought from the old country during the 1970s. This, one of his best selections, is a large fruit, skin not entirely covered with marbled red, calyx open. Carpels ruby in color, rich, sweet and sufficiently acid to make a complex flavor. Seeds hard, medium large. Juice highly colored. Does not require high heat. Midseason, end September to October..
