Thomas Andrew Knight was the first President of the London (later Royal) Horticultural Society, and the first person to make controlled hybrids of cherries. Black Eagle was the greatest of his dark cherries, and is still, 200 years later, the standard of quality for guigne cherries. Fruits can be immense if overcropped, otherwise should be thinned.
