This variety, once a hothouse fruit as grown in England, is one of the treasures of midsummer California, known to very few. Fruits of medium size, ivory with much pink on outside, palest yellow flesh that Bunyard described "melting and refreshing," we find it outstanding in sugar:acid content. He also remarked that it was among the few low-chill hothouse peach varieties, which we find confirmed in its performance here. Half American, half English, it is a hybrid of 'Early Rivers' nectarine x 'Alexander Early' peach, first offered by the Thomas Rivers firm in 1902. Mid July. 500 hours. On Lovell.
