A magnificent peach in both appearance and eating quality. Fruits somewhat flattened, skin near orange, almost covered with dark red. Flesh dense, deep yellow, outstanding sugar:acid balance, very juicy, a peak variety for the peak of the peach season. Named for Ernest Christ, peach breeder in succession to Catherine H. Bailey at Rutgers, variety bred in the 1980s. Reputed temperamental in East, but performs well for us in California. Mid August. 650 hours. On Lovell.
