The most successful of the several hybrid figs produced at UC Riverside under Condit and Storey. Descendant of 'Croisic,' intended originally for the dried fig industry, but proved more valuable as a fresh fig for the home orchard. Versatile in coastal and inland locations, productive of a breba and later main crop of yellow fruits with pink flesh. Sweet with some characteristic fig flavor, Excel is the one fig we recommend without reservation in all fig climates.
