Flavor Supreme

Reputed a hybrid involving plum and apricot ancestors, 'Flavor Supreme' shows the traits of Asian Plum, but not of Apricot.  Its nursery name, 'Ugly Duckling', betrays the odd dull purple over green outside color.  Within the color is a uniform red.  Flesh is dense, breaking until fully ripe, when it yields a purple juice and approaches a melting texture.  The flavor belies any suggestion of ugly:  rich, sugary, with the aroma of raspberry.  One of the complex and speculative hybrids by Floyd Zaiger, in the 1970s.  End June - early July.  Patent 6763.  On  Myro 29c.
