A South African plum, originated in the glory days of “Cape” fruit exporting to Europe, and invaluable as among the few stone fruits of autumn. Tree is vigorous and never misses a crop. Fruits are oval, magenta almost covered with blue-black; flesh amber, sweet, rather dense and even crisp but reliably sweet withal, even in coastal counties. Long keeping and in a season all its own, mid-September, a few days before Casselman. On Lovell.
