The characteristically broad, nearly round almond imported from Spain, that is taking all attention from our own domestic almonds. Its native zone of production is the Mediterranean coast of Alicante, and is grown commercially northward into Valencia and southern Catalonia; performs well and is productive in the coastal counties of California, though less productive than our common varieties, as its vigor is reduced by a virus. Early September. Pollenizer: Tuono, Mission, Nonpariel. On Nemagard.
