An outstanding, late, purple dessert plum that is also highly useful in every cooking application. For eating fresh, Middleburg has something of the high flavor of the best gages and is worthy of any orchard, coming as it does at the end of the plum season. Fruit elongated, dark purple skin, yellowish where not exposed to sunlight; flesh is dense, deep yellow tending to amber, texture almost candied, dense, sweet and acidulous, freestone.
