A very useful peach for late season in Southern California, introduced by Armstrong Nurseries in the 1950s. Fruits large, much colored with red, flesh freestone, pale yellow, sweet, aromatic and with enough tartness to make interesting. Redwing was the chief late peach in the last years of Los Angeles County commercial fruit culture, and is still indispensable for home growers in valley and inland areas. Requires rigorous thinning by early spring. Mid August. 300 hours. On Nemagard.
