Santa Barbara Reputed a seedling of 'Ventura', 'Santa Barbara' is likewise a low-chill peach designed for those southern Californian areas experiencing a minimum of winter: at the beach and upon the coastal plain. But it is also a peach of excellent quality for places where a real winter occurs, in north and central parts of the state. Yellow flesh, juicy, little colored at the pit; richly sweet with sufficient acid to compete in flavor with J H Hale and Rio Oso, in its same season. The largest of the low-chill peaches, self-fertile and highly productive. Mid August. 300 Hours. On Nemagard.
