This "dark" morello has performed best for us out of our modest collection of morello cherries. Known since before the time of Napoleon and originated in Gotha, Thuringia, from where it has been introduced throughout Germany. Productive in every year of fruits smaller than the usual sweet cherry, solid black when fully ripe, with dark colored juice.
